The All-New Bentley Bacalar - and why you can't have one.

The all-new Bentley Mulliner Bacalar is the first of the new 'ultra-exclusive' Mulliner range offered by Bentley Motors - a chance for customers to show their loyalties to the manufacturer to the rest of the world "as often as every two years".

Mulliner has said that it will produce only 12 of this spectacular looking grand tourer, however, the price tag of £1.5m isn't the only reason why all but few of us can only dream of owning such a car, as all 12 cars have already been pre-allocated to Bentley's most loyal customers despite the car only being in a pre-production state - that's right, you have to be invited by Bentley to buy this car once you've gotten yourself quite a good reputation at your local dealership (and spent a few million along the way), hence the term 'ultra-exclusive', however, if you're feeling sad about not being able to grab yourself a Bacalar, then good news (kind of)! With Bentley claiming to bring out one of these ultra-exclusive models every couple of years or so, if you get working on becoming a loyal Bentley customer now, then you may have a future model sat on your driveway in years to come. Being based in Cheshire ourselves, not too far from the Bentley Motors factory in Crewe, the brand has always held a special place in our hearts and has long been desired as a manufacturer driven by bespoke, hand-crafted design and up-most performance. The Bacalar carries the Bentley name with pride, excelling expectations by far. Bentley offers three specifications of the Bacalar; The Clerkenwell; The Menlo; and The Greenwich, as shown below, however, each car is, of course, tailor-made to each customer.

Customers will work closely with Bentley to configure their own Bacalar, with options such as having 5000-year-old river wood for your veneer, as well as a plethora of material and colour choices available on your hand-stitched seats, consisting of 148,199 stitches each. A few points to note about this car;

  • A lot of design features on the Bacalar come from Bentley's 100th-anniversary concept car, the EXP 100 GT

  • Bentley has also brought forward some racing heritage into the design of the car, such as with the bonnet/hood release handles

And finally, some quick stats;

  • 6.0L Turbo Charged W12

  • 659 BHP

  • 900 Nm-Torque

  • 8-Speed dual-clutch transmission

  • 4-wheel-drive system with a rear bias
