The New Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Intelligence is getting exciting. - That's the strapline for the all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class, which is due to hit the European market within the next few months (summer 2020) with the saloon and estate models; the coupe and cabriolet versions due to be seen in showrooms shortly after, as well as an all-terrain estate and an E53 model confirmed too. There will also be a long-wheelbase version of the E-Class to be available solely in China.

The E-Class range is the most popular model in the Mercedez-Benz fleet, with the current model being sold to over 1.2 million customers worldwide. This new model carries forward all the by-words of its predecessors with its appealing design, and executive-style, high-quality interior. Even the standard entry-level model of the new E-Class is said to come with a 'sporty Avantgarde Line exterior', meaning all models with have that sporty-looking grill featuring a central star. Mercedes has also added more chrome and gloss black trim elements to 'freshen up' the new look of the E-Class, giving it the sporty yet professional look, with the AMG Line model looking even sportier, with so-called 'added power-domes', meaning extra bulges on the bonnet. The new E-Class is also said to come with all-LED headlights as standard.

The new interior of the E-Class doesn't look all too different from the last. The first thing you will notice about the new interior, however, is the all-new steering wheel, featuring a large Mercedes star in the centre with four longitudinal spokes, two on each side, in a gloss black which bare the steering-wheel-mounted controls, which are now touch-controlled. The 'adaptive driver's seat adjustment' is also a neat new feature of the new E-Class: the seat will automatically move into a 'usually fitting position' when the driver's height is entered into the cars media display or via the Mercedes Me voice assistant. The E-Class now also features the newest driving assistance systems offered by Mercedes, such as a semi-automated driving mode as seen in the likes of the Tesla range, as well as the E-Classes dual-screen MBUX multimedia system as standard, featuring the signature two 10.25-inch screens for the instrument cluster and media display.

Prices for the new E-Class aren't confirmed as of yet but should start at around £40,000 for the cheapest model, featuring a 292hp 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine which also incorporates a 48V mild-hybrid system, up to around a £70,000 starting price for the top of the range E53.
